Recommendation of German parliament's committee "Internet and Digital Society" on OA for research
The committee of enquiry "Internet and Digital Society" of the German parliament recommends to support the Open Access principle throughout the research sector. According to a press release of the German parliament dating from 25 June (http://www.bundestag.de/presse/hib/2012_06/2012_314/03.html) free access to research literature and research materials should be furthered by a common and sustainable Open Access strategy of the German research sector. At the EU level developments in Germany about Open Access were observed very closely, said Krista Sager, member of the party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen. According to her, this is what makes the recommendation of the committee so important.
